Friendly staff, gave us the friendly one on one service. Food was fast and good quality. Loved the waiheke merlot, worth a try if you like a drop of red. Bit pricy, but we are on the island so to be expected I supose.

One of the best fish and chips I haven't had for a long while. Pork belly pop corn is a must try🍿. Very friendly staff and Andy the dog. Kids loved it. If you are here on Waiheke island. Make sure you pay them a visit.

Great fish and chips. Loved the portion of the basket. DF slaw was excellent. Wish I could take some home. Cashier/bartender(possibly owners) were excellent too! Andy was our favorite though!

Had the best Prawn cocktail ever, the service here was spot on. They suggested that we just wait a minute or two before we were about to sit down, as another couple were about to leave a table with a much better view, now that's real service. My wife had calimari which was excellent, and my son had Taco's. So all in all the food, and service was 5 stars and I rarely if ever give 5 stars, which indicates that they can't do better, this place cannot be faulted. It is a must visit, prices are a little high, but after all it is Waiheke!

Great food. Ordered the snapper & chips, pork belly bites, Bratwurst Roll & cheese burger. Reasonably priced compared to some other beach/waterfront restaurants. The B roll was massive. My 5 yr old who loves hot dog rolls got scared lookin at how massive it was. But later relished it once we cut it down to a smaller sizes. A must visit on Waiheke Island. If only uber eats would deliver to West Auckland from here!!! 😊

I frequent the local when I am on Waiheke, the beer is always cold food is great, fish & chips are amazing and the staff are great always so friendly, not to mention I left my phone there recently I was on the 3:00pm ferry they spotted I had left my phone on the table and thankfully they took it to the ferry all packaged up and I had it I my hand by 5:30 now that is true service above and beyond, thank you team, VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER 😊

The best fish and chips I've eaten so far! The salad, the freshness of the sauce and the fish itself was so good. The fish tacos were also delightful. We just missed out on the beautiful ocean views though. Despite that the ambience was perfect, rhe service quick and the staff super friendly and helpful.

Our group of 23 showed up with no booking as we got a last minute recommendation from our shuttle driver to have lunch here. The staff/owners were extremely accommodating and helped us join tables, organise a large order and brought the food out very quickly! Everyone loved their fish and chips. The fish was super fresh, the chips were yummy and the side slaw complimented the fish and tartare so well! The place is a prime spot, tucked down some stairs on the main strip and opening up to a gorgeous view of the beach! We felt very lucky to have gotten a recommendation for here and even luckier at how great the service and food was, even so last minute! It's also about a 15-20 minute walk to Matiatia Ferries along a very scenic stretch of road. Super convenient! Great way to finish up our day trip to Waiheke Island. Dietary restrictions: The fish and chips is halal!

This place was a perfect stop for a wonderful meal, where my snapper burger was amazing and worth every dollar as was my partners ceviche, the view is 2nd to none whilst I drank my bourbon & the owners friendly dog (Andy) that wandered around stole my heart. The deck has stunning views with great service from the team. As for the food, the fish and chips were good and filling, the fish burger was very tasty but the star of the show was the squid dish. Absolutely delicious with a crisp flavourful batter and soft tender squid that is so difficult to come by. Will definitely be back in future.

Great lunch and drinks spot in Oneroa - We were looking for a lunch place in Oneroa having walked from the ferry and came across The Local down an alley from the main Ocean View Road on the beach side. We sat inside with the outside terrace being busy but still had a sea view. Friendly and informal, you order at the bar and can watch the world come and go and say hello to the charming black retriever Andy who lives here. The Snapper and Chips was excellent - very tasty and even the salad accompaniment was more-ish. A decent rose wine washed it down well. Reasonable prices and a proper lunch in a place where the owners work. Also free wifi and complimentary water available. A great option in Oneroa.

The Local for Lunch - During our visit to Waiheke Island, while in Oneroa, decided to stop at The Local to grab some lunch.
Decided to go for the fish and chips with a beer and glass of local chardonnay, and grabbed a seat outside overlooking Oneroa beach.
Amazing food, fish was melt in your mouth, and the fries were some of the best we have ever eaten.
While enjoying our lunch, some of the other patrons pointed out a pod of dolphins of Oneroa beach having a play.
What a way to top of a delicious lunch, we did stay longer to enjoy the dolphins, and maybe have another beer and wine!!

good seafood restaurant - This is a little hole in the wall restaurant that serves great seafood. I had very good snapper and chips, some of the best I've had. My sister also enjoyed her fish sandwich.

Wonderful views and wonderful food - Possibly the nicest fish and chip lunch we have enjoyed overlooking the beach. Nice friendly place, good atmosphere and our lunch was great.
We’ve sampled similar around the world but I think this is really ace and will get a return visit.

Great - Awesome, friendly service with wonderful food. Fresh, tasty and quickly served on a busy night. There are some bad reviews on here but I completely disagree with all of them. Would recommend to family and friends.

Recommended - Had lunch here twice during our weekend on Waiheke. Fish tacos, then back again for snapper and chips and Waiheke pinot gris. Delicious both times, and friendly staff.

Couldn’t ask for better! - We hired an area at the Local for the day after our wedding and could not have picked a better spot.

From the views to the food to the drinks to the friendly, attentive staff who looked after us all day (and were great to communicate with in the long lead up - cheers covid lol) we would highly recommend this place and will definitely be back!
